This past weekend I attended a conference with a friend of mine. The speaker was
LTG (Ret.) William G. Boykin. This interested me because I have never had the opportunity to listen to the perspective of a General. I was excited...and then I was horrified. To say that I had entered what amounted to a meeting of the Klu-Klux-Klan would not be an understatement. He told everyone how America is being converted to Islam. He painted a picture which pitted Americans against Muslims. And then he stated that "we need to lead the Muslims to God, in order to save this country." It reminded me of what the American Christians said about the Native Tribes and the African Slaves: "Save the Savages."
It would be easy to blame Christians for antagonizing world events, but Muslims have demonstrated their own hatred toward Isreal and America. There is intense judgement on both sides. It is an issue that goes beyond race - it challenges core beliefs and culture. There is no easy answer. Our World Leaders continue to seek solutions. Some reference the Bible. Others point to the Quran.
Me? I am heartbroken.

I think the day that we are able to look at others completely independent of their religious identification and judge on merits instead will be a beautiful day. My own personal philosophy--I want to leave the world a better place on some small scale because I existed--is how I live life and judge others.
To crap all over someone because of their religion is just ... yeah, like a KKK meeting. So sad : (
It seems as though there will always be religious conflicts in this very imperfect world. We, humanity, never learn from our mistakes and I came to the conclusion long ago that we are quite incabable or resolving our differences and loving in harmony. A much higher authority than mankind is required to sort out this mess but meanwhile we must try to become more tolerant.
Nice to see you back Michael.
A few of the 'old team' are still limping along in BlogLand LOL.
Sadly some good friends are away, as you may know.
Best wishes ~ Eddie
Race and/or religion - always a moot subject(s).
How can one express judgement on another religion when/if one does not fully comprehend the other?
Good to see you back!
